Paul Martin » Biography

I am excited to be back for year #2 in Bryan ISD as the Director of Bands at SFA.  The bands are improving each day and well on its way to being a superior band program.
From 2011-2016, Mr. Martin was the Director of Bands at Lake Country Christian School in Fort Worth, TX.  He built a band program from the ground up from nothing to a competitive sweepstakes band program.  They recently placed 8th overall in the ATSSB State OPS (honor band) results and were the only private school in the state that was selected.  Enrollment doubled in size during his tenure and students were successful at the region, area, and state levels.  His bands have performed for many judging events across the DFW including the TPSMEA Concert/Sightreading Contest, Ovation Music Festival, Pride of Texas Music Festival, and Peak Music Festival, which includes over 40 1st divisions.  His band also placed 3rd at the TPSMEA State Marching Contest in 2015.
Prior to working in Fort Worth, Mr. Martin assisted the band programs in Tyler ISD from 2005-2011 helping at four middle schools and at Robert E. Lee High School.  He also had a private lesson studio of about 50 students who were successful at the region, area, and state levels.  Many went on to be in college bands across the US.  During his tenure at Tyler, Paul also worked in the summers at Tatum Music Co. as a instrument repair technician.
He earned a degree in Bachelors of Music Education  from The University of Texas at Tyler and graduated high school from Daingerfield, TX.
Besides being a band director, Paul is sought out as an active clinician and judge across the DFW area and East Texas.  He has served on the state music committee for the TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) organization and served as Middle School Honor Band Coordinator for TPSMEA (Texas Private School Music Educators Association).
Paul is married to his wonderful wife, Kristin, who currently works in Dallas as an Accounting Specialist.  In his free time, he enjoys attending church, watching TV, Rangers baseball, playing golf, and is an avid mustang enthusiast.
